Dr. Shannon Bennett is a Microbiologist and the Chief of Science and Harry and Diana Hind Dean of Research and Collections at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, California. As the Academy's first-ever Associate Curator of Microbiology, Dr. Bennett focuses her research on viruses and bacteria. Previously she has worked as an Associate Professor at the Asia-Pacific Institute of Tropical Medicine & Infectious Disease and at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine. She received her BSc from McGill University and her PhD in Zoology from the University of British Columbia.
