Mimikyu was introduced as a new species of Pokémon for the Nintendo 3DS game Pokémon Sun and Moon. It is a unique ghost and fairy type, and very well known for its resemblance to Pikachu. This article will show you how you can catch your very own Mimikyu in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

There is only one known place where Mimikyu can be found, and that's the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart, the site of Acerola's ghost trial, on Ula'ula Island. Mimikyu has a pretty low encounter and capture rate of 5 percent and 45 percent respectively, so be prepared beforehand, with a lot of patience, and make sure that you have a lot of pokéballs on hand.
This step is vital, because you cannot catch any Pokémon in the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart until you have beaten the trial completely.

Walk around the Megamart for awhile until you encounter a Mimikyu. As stated above, Mimikyu has a pretty low encounter rate of 5 percent, so be prepared to run into a lot of Haunters and Gengars before you run into one Mimikyu.
- There is no grass in the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart, but just walk around and you will get encounters with wild Pokémon as you go.
Once it is at half, use Pokéballs such as Great Balls or Ultra Balls. If it is nighttime in your game, then use a Dusk Ball, because Dusk Balls are more effective for catching Pokémon when it is nighttime in your game. If you want to get the battle over with, you could also attempt to throw a Quick Ball once the battle first starts.
Give it a nickname and/or add it to your party, if you wish to.

Sadly, no, but in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon you can collect stickers and use them to make your Pokémon the size of totems.

There should be a Zygarde Lab in Route 16. If you've been collecting the sparkly entities around the Alola region, you can craft Zygarde. They'll only be around 15% complete when you first get them, but the more sparkly entities you get, the more you can complete Zygarde.

Mimikyu has a special ability known as disguise. This ability protects them from whatever attack is used on them for the first turn. This can be useful to you in case you're battling some one who tries to use a strong attack on your Mimikyu right when the battle starts. However, it can also be useful to a wild Mimikyu, because it won't have any damage inflicted on them for the first turn. Therefore, if you're trying to lower its HP first, then avoid using any strong attacks or a Z-Power.

Try to avoid burning or poisoning Mimikyu, because it will cause it to lose HP, and if your catching attempts fail, eventually the Mimikyu will die and you'll have to find another one.

Since Mimikyu is a Ghost and Fairy type Pokémon, the types of Pokémon it is the weakest against are Ghost and Steel type Pokémon. Keep this in mind when you are searching for a Mimikyu that you can catch inside the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart.

Warnings

Do not try to use moves like False Swipe or Hold Back on Mimikyu. It will not inflict any damage regardless of what turn you are on, because Mimikyu is immune to Normal, Dragon, and Fighting type moves.
