It is always a good habit to occasionally change the password of your social media accounts, or other accounts for that matter, for internet security. For the Facebook app on Android, whether you have forgotten your password or just want to change it for security purposes, changing your password is easy. Here's how to change your Facebook account password on an Android device.
Quick Steps
- Open Facebook and tap ☰.
- Go to Settings & privacy > Settings.
- Open the Meta Accounts Center.
- Go to Password and security > Change password.
- Select your Facebook account.
- Enter your current password, then type in your new password twice.
- Tap Change password.
Steps
-
Open the Facebook app. This looks like a white f with a blue background.
- If you aren't already logged in, enter your email address or phone number and password to do so now.
- If you’ve forgotten your password and aren’t currently logged in, you’ll need to reset it from the login screen.

- If you like, you can choose to log out of any other devices when you update your password. This is a good idea if you think someone else logged into your account.
- If you’re currently logged in but don’t remember your password, tap the Forgot your password? link and follow the prompts to reset it.
-
Tap Change password. You should now be able to log into Facebook with your new password.

Go to https://www.facebook.com. You can use any mobile browser installed on your device.
-
Log into your account. Enter your login information on the fields provided, and tap “Log in” to continue.

Tap ☰. This is at the top-right corner.
-
Scroll down and tap Settings & privacy. This will expand a Settings menu.
-
Tap Settings. It’s the first option on the expanded menu.
-
Tap See more in Accounts Center. This is at the top of the page.
-
Tap Password and security. This will open a new page.
-
Select Change password. It’s the first option on the menu.

- Make sure the Log out of other devices option is checked if you’re afraid someone else has hacked into your account.
