Have you ever wanted to write in a language version of Wikipedia - but you can not speak the language? Maybe you want to take away obvious vandalism, or add an interwiki link? But you can't figure out where you should click "Edit this page"? Then this is the guide for you!

  1. Create an account. This is needed, because otherwise, you will not have access to your preferences. Try the other guide linked to above to create an account (the words and texts are in the same order, so try to compare to the English Wikipedia or whatever language you are most familiar with).
  2. This page is the fourth from the link in the right upper corner, including the link in the upper corner and the "my preferences" link.

  3. The language name is the name of the language of the version of Wikipedia you are in - in that language. For instance, it is "de - Deutsche" if you are in German Wikipedia ("Deutsche" is the German word for "German").
  4. It is low, and is one of two buttons with black text and grey background. The Save button is the one to the left, and has bold text.
  5. You can know edit in the Wikipedia like in a Wikipedia with your language.

Tips

  • The tabs, the links highest in the page (such as "my talk" and "my contributions"), special pages and such things will be in your language after following this guide. However, all the articles, templates and such pages will be in the local language. If you want to understand what is there, you can use an external translator, such as Google Translate.
  • The list described in step number 3 will, before you click it, just have one language (it will have more, of course, but you will only see one).
  • The Save and everything else will be in the language of the Wikipedia before you click the Save button. Example given, in German Wikipedia, the text at the Save button will be "Einstellungen speichern" (translated "Save preferences").
