Trying to figure out whether a certain Instagram user is following you? There are two easy ways to check—by searching your own Followers list, and by checking the other person's Following list. This quick tutorial will help you find out if someone's following you on Instagram using your Android, iPhone, iPad, or computer.

How can you tell if someone is following you on Instagram?

Open Instagram and go to your profile. Tap “Followers” at the top of your profile, then type the name or username into the search field. Alternatively, scroll through the list of your followers to look for specific names if you don’t have a lot of followers. Instagram will notify you when you get a new follower.

  1. The profile icon is the outline of a person's head and shoulders at the bottom-right corner of the screen. This opens your profile.
    • If you're using a computer, click your profile icon at the top-right and select Profile.
  2. You'll see this at the top of your profile along with the number of people following you.[1]

  3. It's at the top of the screen. As you type, a list of matching search results will appear.
    • If you're using Instagram on a computer, you won't be able to search this list. If your Followers list is long and it's taking too long to scroll through, check from the other person's profile instead.
  4. If the person you're searching for is following you, you'll see their profile on your Followers list.

  1. The search icon is the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen.[2]
    • If you're using a computer, just click the Search field at the top of Instagram.
  2. The Search field is at the top of the screen. A list of matching results will appear.[3]
  3. Now you'll see the person's latest posts.
  4. It's near the top-right area of the screen along with the number of people the person is following. This opens a list of everyone the person follows.
    • If the person's profile is private and you aren't following them, you won't be able to view their Following list. Check from your own profile to see if the person is following you.
  5. If this person follows you on Instagram, you'll see your own name and profile link at the top of the list.
    • If this person also follows hashtags, your profile will be just below the followed hashtags.
    • If you don't follow the person, check what the "Follow" button on their profile says. If it says "Follow Back," it means that they already follow you.
