Facebook Tips and Tricks
Tips
-
The first thing you should do to your Facebook profile is adjust your privacy settings. This will help you gauge what you can get away with posting to your account. Thanks
-
According to marketing and social media expert Beth Cormack, you should treat your Facebook bio as an elevator pitch. Keep it short and sweet! Only focus on the most impactful things about yourself. Add some personality to it, even if you are making a brand or business page. Thanks
Warnings
- Think about what you will post on your profile before you actually post it. Think about what you type, what groups you create or join, what quizzes you take, and what photos you post. Employers and colleges scour Facebook profiles. If you post something illicit or illegal, everyone will see it, including your employers and possibly law enforcement. Thanks
- Do not add anyone you do not know as a friend or accept friend requests from people you don't know, especially if you are under 18. If you add someone you do not know as a friend, you risk talking to someone dangerous. Ask yourself two questions, Have I ever met this person? and Is this person dangerous? Thanks
- Don't post your phone number or house address on Facebook; even with high-security settings, you risk being hacked (not to mention sized up and filed away by data miners). Thanks
