If you have an older Android, the newest version of the Netflix app may not be compatible. This wikiHow will teach you how to download an older version of the Netflix app if you have an Android between versions 4.4 (Kit-Kat) and 7.1.2 (Nougat).

  1. Uninstall the Netflix app you have from your Android. Tap and hold the app icon (on either one of your Home screens or in the app drawer) and tap Uninstall or the trashcan icon.

  3. If Security is listed, tap that, and select "Unknown Sources: Allow installation of apps from sources other than the Play Store." Otherwise, tap Apps > ⋮ > Special access > Install unknown apps.
    • You can change this setting back after you've installed the old Netflix app.
  4. Go to https://netflixhelp.s3.amazonaws.com/netflix-4.16-200217-release.apk in a web browser on your Android. The website will open and close to indicate that the download has started.
  5. You should get a notification when the download is complete.
  6. A window will pop-up when you tap the file asking if you want to install an old file.
