Everything you need to know about offline viewing on Hulu
PDF download Download Article

Are you trying to download shows or movies off Hulu for offline viewing? Hulu only allows users to download content via the mobile app. It is not possible to download media to a computer, streaming device, or gaming console. The feature is also limited to those with an ad-free Hulu plan. Still, downloading Hulu shows and movies to your mobile device is quick and easy, and this wikiHow guide is here to help.

  1. Only subscribers to one of Hulu's ad-free plans may download shows and movies.[1]
  2. You must be connected to Wi-Fi to download shows or movies on Hulu.
    • Alternatively, you can enable "Cellular Downloading" in the Hulu app by toggling Cellular Downloading to the On position within the Download section of the app's Settings.
      • Hulu will prompt you to enable this feature if you try to start a download without a Wi-Fi connection.[2]
      • Downloading content without a Wi-Fi connection will use up heavy amounts of data, so we recommend only downloading content over Wi-Fi.

  3. If you have not yet already, open the Hulu app on your Android or iOS device.
    • You can also download Hulu content on most Amazon Fire tablets.
    • Androids must be running Android 5.0 or later to download shows or movies on Hulu.
    • Hulu supports downloads on the iPhone 5S or later (as well as the iPad 5th generation or later).
  4. Navigate through the app to explore Hulu's library and find a show or movie you would like to watch offline. Tap on the show's tile to select it.
  5. Track a download's progress in the Downloads tab. This is also where you can go to access and view your downloads.
    • If you open the Hulu app while offline or on Airplane Mode, only this tab will be available.
    • Unwatched downloads are available for 30 days, unless they are removed from the Hulu library in the meantime. Once you start watching a download, it will expire within 48 hours.
      • Renew an expired download by tapping the encircled exclamation point next to it and selecting "Renew Download".
  6. While you can wait to let a download expire, you may want to delete a download to clear up storage space on your device.
    • To delete a download, tap Edit atop the Downloads page. Then, select the video(s) you want to delete, and tap the trashcan icon. Confirm your decision by tapping Delete.[3]
