The life cycle of a butterfly can be depicted by a series of drawings that aren't too difficult to make yourself or to ask members of a class to draw for themselves. This article will show what to do so that you can learn about or teach others about the butterfly's life cycle.

  1. Larva looks a bit like a worm. Thus, draw the larva in the shape of a worm. Draw it on a leaf, where it would usually be found.
    • Draw a line pointing to the picture of larva(caterpillar) and label it larva. Shortly you'll be able to draw a line to connect it to the next picture.

  2. The pupa is a cocoon that the larva makes by shedding its skin. Draw the pupa (cocoon) hanging on a leaf. Draw a line pointing to the picture of the pupa and label it pupa.
    • Shortly you'll be able to draw a line to connect to the last picture.
  3. Draw it sitting on a leaf, stem, flower or piece of fruit. Draw a line pointing to the picture and label it.

The adult butterfly is simply what most people think of as a butterfly with full wings. (A juvenile butterfly would be a caterpillar.)
