Do you want to share a specific place in Apple Maps with someone? It's easy to drop a pin on Apple Maps and send it via text message or other apps. You can also share your location with a contact, either just once or in real-time, using the Messages app. If the person you want to share a pin or your location with has an Android, you can also drop a pin and share your location in Google Maps. This wikiHow article will teach you how to drop a pin, share a pin, and share your location on an iPhone or iPad.

   • Maps will open and zoom in on your current location.

   Tap and hold the map where you want to drop a pin. You can lift your finger when the "Marked Location" menu slides up from the bottom.

   • If nothing happens when you touch the screen, try zooming in to get an exact location, then touch the screen again.

   Move the pin to a more precise location. If the pin you placed is a little bit off from the desired location, tap Move, then drag the map until the pin is positioned correctly.

   Open the Maps app and swipe up on the bottom menu. You might just see a search bar at the bottom of the map. If you do, swipe up until you see the Library section.

How to Share Your Location in Messages

   Enable location sharing. If you want to send a pin of your current location to someone via text but don't want that person to see your live location as you move, you can do so with this method. First, make sure location sharing is turned on:

   • Open the Settings app.
   • Scroll down and tap Privacy & Security.
   • Tap Location Services.
   • If the Location Services switch is turned off, tap it to turn it on.
   • Tap Share My Location.
   • Toggle on "Share My Location" if this option is disabled.

   Open a text conversation with the person you want to share with. If you don't already have a text from the person you're sharing with, tap + to create one.

   Tap + at the bottom-left corner of the conversation. A menu will expand.
