What Makes a Song Catchy, Anyway?

Wondering why some songs are more “singalongable” than others? Turns out, there’s some science behind what makes a song catchy or not! According to one study, the most singable songs tend to:

  • Hit some high notes.
  • Take a little extra vocal effort.
  • Be sung by a man.
  • Incorporate frequent but clear consonants.
  • Include minimal vocal embellishments.

According to the same study, the most singalongable song is…(drumroll, please!) “We Are the Champions” by Queen! (They really are the champions, apparently!)
