The Amazon Associates program allows qualified bloggers, publishers, and other content creators to earn extra money with affiliate marketing, which is tracked using a member’s ID number (sometimes referred to as a preferred associates store ID). If you’re an existing member of the program but don’t know where to find your ID number, we’ll show you exactly where you need to go on the Amazon Associates website. If you’re completely new to affiliate marketing and want to get started with Amazon, scroll to the end of the article for a quick tutorial on how to apply.
Things You Should Know
- Log into your Amazon Associates account and find your ID in the top right corner of the screen.
- Create an affiliate ID by signing up on the Amazon Associates website.
- Make 3 sales through affiliate marketing so your account can be reviewed by the Amazon Associates team.
Steps
How to Join Amazon Associates
-
Visit the Amazon Associates website to start the sign-up process. Click the yellow Sign up button in the middle of the screen.
-
Check your account information on the screen. Amazon Associates will confirm the address where your future payments will be sent. Once you’re happy with the listed address, hit Next.
- If you’d like the payments to be sent to a different address, hit “Someone else - I need to enter their information” on the bottom of the page.
-
Submit your qualifying websites, mobile apps, or Alexa skill URLs. Paste all the best possible websites you’d like to use affiliate marketing on in the left-most box on the screen, and all of the best possible mobile apps and Alexa skill URLs in the right-most box.
- Click here for a list of guidelines on which sites, apps, and links are/aren’t allowed.
- Amazon looks for websites and apps with high-quality, accessible, and recent (within the past 60 days) content that isn’t blocked by any paywalls. Make sure your link or app has at least 10 posts that the Amazon Associates team can eventually review.[1]
-
Set up your profile and begin using Amazon Associates. Follow the on-screen instructions to personalize your account profile so you can start making money from Amazon’s affiliate program. Tools like Sitestripe make it easy to generate affiliate links quickly, customize your ads, and share new promos on social media.[2]
- Think of this as a trial period for your application—while you can use Amazon Associates for now, your websites and apps may be rejected later on, and you’ll have to reapply to the program again.
-
Refer at least 3 shoppers through affiliate marketing and wait to be reviewed. The Amazon Associates will start looking over your submitted websites, apps, and links once you’ve made 3 qualified sales in the first 180 days your account is active. The team will let you know if you’re accepted or rejected; if you’re rejected, they’ll give a reason (e.g., trademark issues, lack of content, etc.).
- You can reapply if you’re rejected, but you’ll need to redo your application from the beginning.
