Need to wash some of your clothes, but the tags say “dry clean only?” We know that you don’t want to wait a long time for your clothes, but just how long does it take for dry cleaners to have your garments ready? While it depends on how many clothes you're having done and how busy they are, there are some general guidelines for turnaround times. Keep reading, and we’ll cover everything you need to know about how long your clothes will be at the cleaners and how soon you should pick them up.

Things You Should Know

Expect to wait about 1–2 days for dry cleaners to finish simple garments like dress shirts and pants.
Give dry cleaners up to 1 week to clean full suits, tuxedos, or formal dresses.
Wait up to 2 weeks to finish dry cleaning leather, suede, and fur clothing.
Pick up your clothes as soon as you’re able to since cleaners may get rid of them after 90 days.

Average time: 1–2 days Most dry cleaners try to get your clothes finished within a couple of days after you drop them off. Some cleaners may even offer same-day services so you can pick them up later in the evening. Just ask the employees and they can give you a more accurate estimate.
