How Cash Card Works

  1. Instead of linking to a bank account, the Cash App Card links to your Cash App balance. Each time you use your Cash Card online or at a store, the amount you spend is deducted from your Cash App balance. You can use your Cash App Card anywhere that accepts Visa.
    • You can add money to your Cash App balance by depositing cash at major retailers like Walmart, Walgreens, 7-Eleven, Duane Reade, Rite Aid, Family Dollar, Pilot Travel Centers, and more), transferring money from your bank account, or receiving money from others.[3]
    • If you make a payment exceeding the amount of your Cash App balance, the card will pull from bank account, as long as you have one linked in your Cash App.
  2. If you need to withdraw money from your Cash Card as paper cash, you can do so at any ATM. There will be a $2.50 charge to withdraw money from an ATM, unless you set up direct deposit for your paychecks. If you receive at least $300 of direct deposit funds to your Cash Card each month, Cash App will reimburse ATM fees whenever you use the card for a withdrawal.[4]
    • It's not possible to deposit money to your Cash App Card at an ATM.
  3. Cash App offers a variety of "Boosts" within the app that you can add to your card at any time. Once your Cash App card is activated, tap the card icon in Cash App, tap Add offer, select a Boost, and then tap Add.[5]
    • Only one Boost can be active at a time, but you can swap out Boosts as often as you would like.

  2. When you spend at participating merchants, Venmo offers cashback on your purchases. This cashback goes directly into your [[Venmo balance.[6]
    • Venmo's cashback offers operate similarly to Cash App's Boosts, but users may prefer the payouts that Venmo provides, as opposed to the discounts from Cash App.
