Log in with your Microsoft account. If you are already signed in to Windows with a Microsoft account, Teams may log you in automatically. If not, you will usually be prompted to select a Microsoft account from a list, or click Use another account or sign up to enter different login information.
- You can now use Microsoft Teams to create meetings, share your screen, and more.
Tip: If you’re installing Teams for school or work, make sure you sign in with your school/work account.
Downloading Teams for Personal Use
-
Create a Microsoft account. If you don't subscribe to Microsoft 365 (Office) or have a work or school account to use with Teams, you can still use the free version of Teams—you'll just need a Microsoft account.[1] If you use Skype, Xbox Live, Outlook.com, OneNote, or OneDrive, you already have one. If not, you can create a free account at https://www.microsoft.com/account.
-
Sign up for the free version of Teams.
- Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/microsoft-teams/free.
- Click Sign up for free.
- Click Sign up for free again.
- Enter the email address, phone number, or Skype name associated with your Microsoft account and click Next.
- Enter your password to log in.
-
Select a version of Microsoft Teams to download and click Next. The option you select depends on how you'll be using Teams:
- If you were told to install Teams to keep in touch with work or an organization, select For work and organizations.
- If you're using Teams for school, select For school.
- If you'll just be chatting casually with people you know, select For friends and family.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. At the end of the setup process, you'll be asked if you want to download the Windows version of Teams or use the web version. To actually install Teams on your computer, click the version you want to download, then click Save to save it to your computer.
-
Double-click the Teams installer to finish installing Teams. You'll find the installer in your default downloads folder. This downloads the files necessary to run Teams and installs them on Windows. Once installed, Teams will launch automatically.
- In the future, you can launch Teams by clicking Teams in your app menu, or by typing teams into the Windows Search bar and selecting Microsoft Teams.
