Hold the joint or pre-roll at a 45-degree angle between your thumb and index finger, then slowly bring the flame of your lighter to the tip. Roll the joint back and forth between your fingers so that the tip burns evenly. When the tip is glowing red like a cherry, bring it to your lips and take a small short puff.
