Get creative with your storage. If you have anything sitting out, that's only going to contribute to the messy look in your home. Try to find ways to hide all of that stuff. Things like ottomans with little storage compartments are going to really make your life easier and help you achieve a cleaner look.

You've got two really good options. First, you could put a big piece of art there. That will really help tie the room together from a design perspective. The other thing you could do is put a really large, wide mirror on the wall. This is a particularly good choice if you have a large window nearby, since the light will reflect and make your space feel bigger than it is.

Try adding LED lights along the path leading up to your house. You could also add a garden in front of your home, if you have space, or you could keep flowers and plants in containers if you don't have much room. Also, consider painting the front door of your home a fun color that will show off your personality.
  • Question
How can I cover the space below the stairs in the hall?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
A bookshelf is a pretty easy way to fill up a space like this. They are often modular, so you can make them fit under stairs perfectly. If you have pets, consider putting something for them there (ie: a mattress for your dog, a cat tree, etc.). If none of these appeal to you, consider getting a larger potted plant and placing it there.

  • Question
I have grey walls and red multi curtains. How can I draw the scheme together with a coffee table, etc.?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Black or white furniture would look good with your color scheme. Dark brown wood would be fine, too. For accents and decorations, you could go with red and other warm colors, black/white/gray, or a combination of those.
  • Question
    What colors go best together?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Opposite colours work well together. Purple and blue go together. This is because the purple picks up the blue tones whilst adding another primary colour. It works only if you have the primary colour in pale and the other in dark. So, the combinations are: Duck-egg blue and rich purple, aqua blue and Eden green, primrose yellow and flame orange, lemon cream yellow and lime green. Red does not work for this for if you pale red you will get pink.

    Community Answer
Halls are tricky; most have poor natural and overhead light. Consider hanging reflective items, as in a mirror or frames. (This can be done with silver or nickel colored items or mosaic glass frames.) If possible, change out the overhead lighting. If you have height, go with something that has about a 3'-4' drop from the ceiling. If the ceilings are taller, then go with a light fixture that is a bit larger. If you have the space, you could also consider adding some furniture pieces, like a long table.

  • Question
My bedroom is big but has two windows lengthways and the door right in the middle of the room it's not very wide either. I feel limited as to how to place things because of the windows and doors etc. Any ideas?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You can't keep the bed near the window because the door is opposite to it. You can have one window that is right opposite the door, so you have one window that is away from the door. If not, keep a chair or a table where outsiders can see through the door. At the inside corner, place your bed. You can even shut the window and keep your cupboard or wardrobe against it so it doesn't deter you from arranging furniture.

I have a very small bought house and we can't really do anything to it. How can I decorate it?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Have the bed with a storage cabinet underneath. You can also make a bunker bed. Use furniture that can be folded away like foldable tables and chairs that can be kept against the wall when not needed. There are tables that have an extendable wooden plank for ironing clothes. You can look into "space saving" furniture that is both interesting to look at and easy to use, as it's adjustable. Use lights to make the corners look bright. Paint the walls with bright colors. Avoid cluttering with many decorative items.
