First, you don't want the mirror to be immediately obvious when you open the bedroom door. That's number one; it shouldn't stand out. Second, I'd say less is more. Giant mirrors are all about looking at yourself, and feng shui is most interested in the outward space. Stick with something small if you're going to hang a mirror.

This is a common complaint. People will say, "Oh, this is so much more housework," but in my opinion it's worth it. You know, the benefits of keeping a calm, centered, positive space are so strong that it's worth the extra 5-10 minutes of cleaning every day.

  • Question
How do I Feng Shui my room when it's small?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Get rid of old things you don't need like trash, trinkets, etc. Donate your old clothes or give them away if they are usable. Also don't hang any pictures of water, and don't have too much pictures of people. Don't have any plants or fish tanks in there either.
  • Question
What should I do if I have windows on two of the bedroom walls?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You can get yourself some nice curtains, and decorate around the windows accordingly.
  • Question
If I have to choose between placing the bed on a metal bed frame or directly on the floor, which is typically the wiser decision?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
I would say to keep your bed off the floor on a metal frame. Even though the frame is solid, you will still have energy flow underneath your bed, unlike if you left it either without a backboard or on the floor.
  • Question
Can I have a mirror above the headboard of my bed?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
No, that creates a very strong negative energy and you won't be able to sleep well.
  • Question
How do I arrange the nine areas of a bedroom so that the focus is on the love corner?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Declutter the area. Place red or fire element colors there. Add a painting/picture of a couple or animals or something that makes you feel love. Also, pair things, i.e. 2 pillows instead of 1 or 3, 2 candles or nightstands instead of 1, etc.
  • Question
My bed will only fit under the window. What should I do now?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
This is the same issue I have. I don't think its a massive deal -- just make sure you have blinds/curtains to stop the light disturbing your sleep. Ultimately, your room is supposed to be like a sanctuary, free from distractions and free from chaos. I think this can still be achieved, despite the location of the bed.
  • Question
I have a beam above my bed and two doors, one we use and one that remains closed. What should I do? And, my room is light purple. Should I change it?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Treat the door you don't use as a wall (like it's not there) and move your bed accordingly if possible. Light purple isn't bad but bring in other colors to help bring balance like yellow and dark purple accents with silver fixtures.
  • Question
I have two doors in my apartment and mainly use the back door as a front door, so which is my main door?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
The door that you actually use (in this case, your back door) should be treated as a "front door."
  • Question
I have 2 doors, one for a bathroom, and then the bedroom entrance door. What should I do?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Face your bed diagonally towards one of the doors if you are unable to face your bed away from the doors.
  • Question
What can I place in a room to avoid negative energy from mirrors?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Place the mirror so that it doesn't face your bed, such as placing it on the other side of the same wall that your bedhead rests against. You can hide the mirror as well, such as throwing a cloth over it or, if it's on a dressing stand, flipping it around to face the wall during sleep. Inside a closet door that gets shut is another good place for it.
  • Question
If I have two doors in my bedroom, can I put my bed in front of one of the doors?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
If you won't be using that door, then yes you can. Also, if your family is okay with it, you could consider getting the door removed.
  • Question
My bed is on the opposite side of my room, which is very small. I can only fit one night stand, as I have cupboards on the left hand side of my room. Are the cupboards a problem?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Ultimately, if your room is quite small, it's important to utilise the space you have -- and without over-packing it with furniture. Keep in mind, minimalism is key. Are these cupboards for clothing? How much do you really need the night stand? More storage sometimes tempts people to get extra things. If the cupboards are for clothing, and you have very little floor space, then I'm tempted to say ditch the bedside table.
  • Question
What should I do if I have a small room?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Just downsize on the amount of things you have and get creative with storage.
  • Question
I have a pendant light ending in a point hanging over my bed. Is this OK?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
If you can't move your bed, try replacing the light with one that doesn't end in a point and possibly swag it to a hook in the ceiling so that it is not hanging directly over the bed.
  • Question
What if I have a sliding closet door which is a mirror-door? I can't get rid of it. What should I do besides moving rooms?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
I have the same problem, I just pin a sheet across it and tie it up at the top during the day.
  • Question
My room is extremely small. How do I make the best of the small space with a queen-size bed?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Avoid heavy frames. Go for a sleek headboard and foot board, or if you can, use the bed without either of those.
  • Question
    Is this method scientifically proven?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
No, feng shui was made with emotions, spirituality, and Chinese symbolism in mind. But it is one way of creating a sense of order and harmony in one's home, and having a sense of order and harmony is always calming and anxiety-reducing, regardless of the exact methodology used to achieve it.
  • Question
Is it necessary to have two end tables on either side of the bed?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
No It's not necessary to have two end tables, but it's good for decoration as long as it is not cluttered.
  • Question
The best direction for my bed is south, but that wall has a large window. What can I do?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Be sure to close the blinds and curtains at night to keep your chi/energy from flowing out the window.
  • Question
How do I feng shui when I share a room?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
First, ask your roommate if they are okay with it. If so, go ahead, and potentially have them help you for balance and support from a peer. If not, only do little things like moving the mirror slightly or adding candles or small ornaments of color.

    It should be fine.

    Miss.WikiAll

    Community Answer
It depends on if the door will hit it or not. If it won't, then that's fine, but if it will hit the mirror, try to find somewhere else to put it.
  • Question
The vanity is directly in the bedroom with a large mirror and it can't be covered, and it's facing the bed. What do I do?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Try draping a cloth over the mirror and, if you can, move the vanity or bed.
  • Question
Would it be a bad thing to hang a picture with water in it over my bed?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Yes, I think it would. The symbol of water would be considered a negative in this space, and the blue colors may not attract romance like a warmer color would.
