    Expert Answer
Coconut oil can be a great makeup-remover substitute if you have sensitive skin. Just work a nickel-sized amount into your face until your makeup is gone
  • Question
Do I have to exfoliate my lips?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
It helps remove dry skin on your lips, so if you have issues with chapped lips, it's an important thing to use.
  • Question
How do I get eyeshadow off without using makeup remover?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Just use your face wash and wash it off gently using a bit of water with a cotton pad. Moisturize after, with a bit of lotion.
  • Question
Can I simply use water and a washcloth?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You can, but it won't get the makeup off completely in one go, which results in more rubbing. This could irritate your skin. Try coconut oil instead.
  • Question
    Can I use baby wipes?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You can, but they will likely not remove your makeup as effectively as wipes made for that purpose.
  • Question
What if I don't have any eye makeup remover?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You can just use cleanser or soap and water, which should work for most makeup but might not do for something like waterproof mascara. You can also try rose water or coconut oil.
  • Question
Can I use an alcoholic wipe to clean my face?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
No! Alcohol strips your skin and is very drying, which can lead to damage and inflammation.
  • Question
How to remove kajol on my eyes?
    Community Answer

Use makeup remover or rather use a cleansing milk cream. Before choosing, be careful that the one you have chosen is prescribed and is from a renowned company.
  • Question
Can I remove my makeup with Palmolive dish soap?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
It will likely work, but dish soap can be harsh and drying on your skin, so it's better to use something intended for makeup removal.
  • Question
Why does my face burn and get red when I use baby wipes for removing makeup?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Baby wipes are not meant for scrubbing on the skin to remove makeup, use a makeup remover instead.
  • Question
Do I have to use a makeup remover before a cleanser?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
This depends fully on your cleanser. Some cleansers do not have the ability to take off makeup and therefore, without using a makeup remover beforehand, your face isn't getting fully clean. Usually cleansers explicitly state if they remove makeup.
  • Question
How long do I keep a face mask on for?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
It really depends on what type of face mask it is. Normally I would suggest keeping it on for 15-20 minutes.

    Top Answerer
That's a problem every makeup wearer struggles with. I usually remove my makeup at night with a makeup remover, then do my skin care routine. The next morning, I use coconut oil on and around my eyes and lashes, then use a cotton pad to gently wipe over the eye area to remove any extra makeup.
  • Question
How do I remove mascara if it's still on after using makeup remover?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Try a stronger makeup remover or one that takes off waterproof mascara (if that is what you're using). Micellar water is becoming increasingly popular because it takes makeup off effectively (even waterproof mascara) and is also very gentle on the skin.

You can also use an oil to remove makeup, but it takes a little longer. Use either coconut or olive oil and let it sit for a couple minutes on your face so it can start breaking down the makeup. Then, just wipe it away. You may need to do it a couple times to fully remove everything.
  • Question
Should I still use an eye makeup remover to take off clear mascara gel?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
It's up to you. Since it's clear it won't really matter much and most likely it will come off on its own. However, it is good to remove all makeup from your face before you sleep.
  • Question
What if I am in the shower?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Unless you are taking an ice cold shower, the makeup is going to react to the heat. This means that the makeup will melt off your face, including the mascara. I would say that you should definitely use some type of face wash if you keep one in the shower. Don't use body wash, because the skin on your face is sensitive, and you could potentially get it in your eyes.
