  • Question
How many pictures can be held on a 16 GB memory card?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
That obviously depends on the storage size of the pictures. Some high resolution pictures are only 70 KB, some are 5 MB. Assuming you will only use .jpg or .png format, and assuming an average size of 3 MB per picture (which is generous), a 16 GB stick will store at least 5,000 pictures. With smaller file sizes, it can hold 100,000 pictures. The "Pictures" folder on my PC holds more than 20,000 files and is less than 4 GB in size.
  • Question
How can I change the settings of my SD card from read only?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
There's a tiny slider on the longer edge of the card. Usually, moving it up (towards the connectors) removes write protection.
  • Question
How do I play music from an SD card on my phone?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You can't with an iPhone. With an Andriod, you drag the music to the SD card, and then make sure your music app is connecting to the folder on your card where the music is.
  • Question
Do I need an SD card in my cell phone if I am not using the internet or storing files?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
No. An SD card is mainly used for storing files. Keep in mind, however, that if you don't have an SD card, and you run out of memory, you will have to delete a few files in order to make room for new ones.
  • Question
Can an SD card be put into a desktop computer?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Yes, it can, if your PC has a card reader. If not, you can purchase a card reader which connects via USB for very little money, less than the price of the SD card.
  • Question
Can I use an SD card with a Chromebox to increase my hard disk size?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
No. However, you can use it as a different storage location.
  • Question
If the only thing I can do on the Windows phone is to format the SD card, how can I use my SD card, and how can the phone find it?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
It may be that the phone does not recognize the current formatting of the SD card. Letting it format the SD card should allow it to be used normally, however this will wipe anything that is currently on the card, so make sure you backup anything important.
