Do you want to stream Max (formerly known as HBO Max) tv shows and movies to your Discord friends? As long as you're using the desktop application or website, you can easily share your screen and watch with others. Just make sure to turn off Hardware Acceleration on your browser, and then fully restart it. This wikiHow will show you how to stream Max on Discord using your Windows or Mac computer.

To Stream HBO Max on Discord, turn off Hardware Acceleration on Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Restart your browser fully. Navigate to a Max video. Join a server's voice channel and click the monitor icon. Select the browser window, and then click Go Live.

   Turn off your browser's Hardware Acceleration. This can be found in your browser's system settings. It's recommended to use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

   • Google Chrome:
     • Click ⋮ in the top-right corner.
     • Click Settings.
     • Click System.
     • Toggle off Use graphics acceleration when available.
   • Mozilla Firefox:
     • Click ☰ in the top-right corner.
     • Click Settings.
     • Scroll down to Performance.
     • Uncheck Use recommended performance settings.
     • Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.

   Restart your browser. Close your browser fully and open it again. This ensures the new settings are applied properly.

   Log into https://www.hbomax.com in a web browser. You must have an active Max subscription.

   Navigate to a movie or show you want to watch. Use the search bar at the top of the page or select a category to browse the selection.

   Launch the Discord desktop app. Discord is available to download on Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you aren't already logged in, enter your email address and password to do so now.

   • You can also use Discord in a desktop browser at https://discord.com/.

   Join a voice channel in a server. You can use an existing server or create a new one for streaming movies and shows.

   • When you join a voice channel, you'll see new options appear above your username in the bottom-left corner.

   Click the monitor icon. This has a right-facing arrow within it.

   • The Screen Share window will open.

   Click your browser from the list of applications. You should see previews of all open applications on your computer. When you click it, you'll see your streaming options.

   • If you aren't already on the Applications tab, click it to navigate there now.

   Select your stream settings. You'll be able to choose the voice channel, resolution, and framerate. If you have Discord Nitro, you'll be able to stream in higher quality.

   • Make sure the box is checked for Also share application audio.

    Click Go Live. This is the blue button on the bottom of the window. Your stream will begin.

    • You can wait for other users to join your stream.

    On your web browser, click play on your video. Your video will begin streaming to your Discord server.

    • To stop streaming, click the monitor icon with the x inside of it, or leave the call.

   Make sure to restart your browser. If you're getting a black screen, your Hardware Acceleration is turned on. If you followed the steps above to turn it off, make sure to fully close your browser (not just minimized) and open it again. This ensures the new settings are applied.

   Restart Discord. Close Discord fully and open it again. Make sure it's not just minimized to your taskbar.

   Turn off Discord's Hardware Acceleration. If you're still getting a black screen, try turning off Discord's built-in Hardware Acceleration. Do the following:

   • On Discord, click the cog icon.
   • Click Advanced.
   • Toggle off Hardware Acceleration.
   • Restart Discord.

   Try a different browser. This method works on both Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Try the alternate browser instead. Just be sure to turn off Hardware Acceleration and restart your browser.
