Fun Facts About Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was originally a standalone story. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a prequel story arc, though when it was first conceived, it wasn’t even supposed to be part of the main canon Jujutsu Kaisen story! Author Gege Akutami only decided to make it canon after he’d written the one-shot.
Gojo has a major sweet tooth. Although it’s commonly forgotten (or not well-known), Gojo developed a love of sweets after eating more sweet foods to try and sharpen his mind.
Gojo also really likes Digimon. Gojo actually quotes Digimon in the Gojo’s Past arc—and author Gege Akutami has also gone on the record to say that Gojo is a huge Digimon fan.
Nobara dyes her hair a lighter shade of brown. That’s right: her hair is actually dark brown, but for unknown reasons, she dyes it a lighter share of brown in the series.
Sukuna’s fingers have a “flavor.” The King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, becomes trapped inside Yuji’s body at the beginning of the story, after which Yuji makes it his mission to find and eat all of Sukuna’s fingers so they can be destroyed—and author Gege Akutami has confirmed that, strangely, Sukuna’s fingers taste like soap.
Nanami was originally a villain. Although he becomes Yuji’s mentor in the series, Akutami has revealed that Nanami was one of the first characters conceived—and that he was initially going to be a villain.
Nanami’s heritage has been revealed. He’s one of the few characters with blonde hair, and as it turns out Akutami has a reason for that! Nanami is of European (specifically Danish) descent from his maternal grandmother.
Megumi loves his shikigami. In the series, Megumi is a super serious, stoic sorcerer capable of summoning shikigami (animal-like monster creatures) in battle—but once they’re killed, they can’t be brought back. Akutami has confirmed that Megumi cares for his shikigami and mourns them when they die, revealing a softer side of Megumi than fans usually see.
Hanami is speaking backward. To make Hanami sound the way he does in Jujutsu Kaisen, his voice actor (Atsuko Tanaka) speaks the lines in Japanese—and then they’re played in reverse.
