Open a new tab in Google Chrome. In Google Chrome, you can customize the background for new tabs and the color of your browser.
- Make sure to update Chrome to the latest version.

Click Customize Chrome. You can find this at the bottom-right corner of the new tab page. This may also look like a pencil icon.
- A panel will open on the right.

Click Change theme. Theme refers to the background of your new tab page.

Select a background photo. Choose a category to view the backgrounds.
- To use a photo saved to your device, click Upload an image. Select the image, and then click Open.
- Click the back arrow to return to the Appearance window.

Select a color theme for your browser. This will change the color of the top menu bar, buttons, and any other visible elements of the browser (excluding the webpage).
- If you want to revert back to the original theme, click Reset to Default Chrome underneath the color theme options.
