Things You Should Know

- There is no waitlist for ChatGPT Plus, and it's available in most regions all around the world.
- ChatGPT Plus gives you faster responses, greater accuracy, and access to the chatbot at peak times.
Steps
Subscribing to ChatGPT Plus
-
Sign in to ChatGPT. Go to https://chat.openai.com in a web browser and log in with your ChatGPT account.
- If you're having trouble logging in, check out our ChatGPT login troubleshooting guide.
-
Click Upgrade to Plus. You'll see this option at the bottom-left side of ChatGPT.
-
Click Upgrade Plan. This green button appears below the current price of ChatGPT in your region.
- ChatGPT will now send a text message to your phone that contains a confirmation code.
-
Enter the confirmation code. Once the code is verified, you'll be taken to a payment form. Your total, including any applicable taxes, will appear.
-
Enter your payment details and click Subscribe. ChatGPT Plus uses Stripe to process payments, so you can pay with any Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover card, and others.[4] Once you process your payment, you'll have instant access to ChatGPT Plus.
- If you have trouble signing up for ChatGPT Plus or run into billing problems, go to https://help.openai.com, click the chat icon at the bottom-right, then choose Billing to contact support.[5]
Using ChatGPT Plus
-
Go to https://chat.openai.com to access ChatGPT Plus. Now that you've upgraded, you'll be taken to the paid version of ChatGPT.
-
Select a language model. The first time you open ChatGPT Plus, you'll be asked if you want to try GPT-4. Click Try GPT-4 to try the latest version of the language model, or Maybe later to use GPT-3.5 for now.
- You can easily switch language models at any time, so don't worry if you make the wrong selection.
-
Use the My account menu to manage your subscription. This option, which wasn't available in the free version of ChatGPT, is where you'll find your ChatGPT Plus subscription information.
- If you need to cancel ChatGPT Plus, click My account in the left sidebar, click Manage my subscription, and choose Cancel plan.[6]
-
Use the Model menu to switch models. No matter which language model you chose earlier, you can switch models as needed. Click New chat at the top-left, then select a model from the "Model" menu at the top of ChatGPT Plus.
- You can select from GPT-4 (the newest model), Default (GPT-3.5), or Legacy (GPT-3.5).
-
Experiment with GPT-4. While the ChatGPT Plus interface mostly looks the same as the free version, you'll see the real difference as you start conversing with ChatGPT, especially using GPT-4. To test it out, start a conversation using GPT-3.5, and one using GPT-4. Provide the same prompt to both models and see which one gives you a better response.
- Use of GPT-4 in ChatGPT Plus may be capped based on demand. If you see a message that says "GPT-4 currently has a cap of 25 messages every 3 hours," you can use the menu to switch to GPT-3.5 for unlimited messaging.
- Just like in the free version, you can see all of your previous conversations in the left panel of ChatGPT Plus.
