Updating Yahoo Account Information

  • Log into https://www.yahoo.com/ and hover over your profile picture. Click Overview to see your account settings.
  • Click Personal info to update your profile picture, change your name, birthday, or gender, or choose a new language.
  • Click Security to enable 2-Step Verification and add a recovery email or phone number.
  1. If you don't have a profile picture, this will be your initial.
  2. This is in the drop-down menu.
    • You may be asked to verify your password.

  3. Click Personal info at the top, next to Overview. On this page, you can update your Yahoo account picture, your name and display name, birthday, gender, and location/language settings.[1]
    • To change your profile photo:
      • Click Update profile photo.
      • Click Upload from device.
      • Select a photo.
    • To change your personal details:
      • Click Update personal details.
      • Enter a new first name, last name, preferred name, gender, and/or date of birth.
    • To change your language settings:
      • Click Update language.
      • Click the Preferred language drop-down menu.
      • Select a new language.
      • Click Save updates.
  4. Enable 2-Step Verification. This helps prevent unauthorized users from accessing your account. You can Do the following:
    • Click Security at the top.
    • Underneath 2-Step Verification, click Turn on.
    • Select: Push notification, Your phone number, Authenticator app, or Security key.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Changing your password every few months can keep hackers at bay. If you want to change it, do the following:
    • Click Security at the top.
    • Click Change password.
    • Enter a new password.
    • Click Continue.
  6. If you ever get locked out of your account, recovery methods can make it easy for you to get back in. You can add a recovery email or recovery phone number. Do the following:
    • Click Security at the top.
    • Scroll down to How we make sure it's really you.
    • Click Add email or Add phone number.
    • Enter an email or phone number.
    • If needed, enter the confirmation code.
