All About the Personal Color Test
What is the personal color test?
It’s an internet quiz that went viral on TikTok. Back in 2021, users discovered the Personal Color Test on KTESTONE, a South Korean quiz-taking site that features a variety of fun and unique tests, including the “Carp Bread Personality Test,” “Note Charm test,” “Smile Dating Test,” and more. The more TikTok users posted their test results on the platform, the more the quiz spread and gained in popularity.
It’s a test based on the True Colors personality test. Created by psychologist Don Lowry in 1978, the True Colors personality uses a paradigm of four colors (blue, green, orange, and gold) to represent different temperaments. Different traits are associated with each color:
- Blue: Empathetic, caring, charitable, loving
- Green: Logical, pragmatic, self-controlled, unbiased
- Orange: Adventurous, spontaneous, captivating, clever
-
Gold: Devoted, steadfast, obedient, dependable
It’s also loosely based on the Myers-Briggs personality test. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (better known as MBTI) assigns you a set of 4 letters that best symbolize your personality. Known as “personality types,” these 4 letters represent 4 different categories:
- Introverted vs. Extroverted: Do you feel energized by being alone (introverted) or by being around other people (extroverted)?
- Sensing vs. Intuition: Would you rather rely on physical experiences or your intuition to learn more about the world around you?
- Thinking vs. Feeling: Do you lean more on logic or emotions?
-
Judging vs. Perceiving: Do you prefer a strict routine in life or are you comfortable going with the flow?
