Learn how to share a link on Facebook using your computer or mobile device

Most sites and apps have a Sharing icon that allows you to share links directly to your Facebook timeline. If you don't see a "Share" or "Facebook" button, you can copy the URL and paste it directly. Here's how to post a link to a website, video, or other content on Facebook using your computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

  1. Copy the link you want to post.
  2. Log into the Facebook app or website.
  3. Select the What's on your mind? box.
  4. Paste the link into the field.
  5. Select Post.

  1. You can also post a link on Facebook by copying a website's address from your web browser on your computer, phone, or tablet.
  2. Click or tap the address bar at the top or bottom of your browser window to select the URL of the current page.
    • Some apps and websites, including YouTube, will have a Share option that you can select to bring up a Copy link option as well.

  3. Copy the URL. On a phone or tablet, tap the selected URL, then tap Copy in the resulting pop-up menu. On a computer, right-click the selected link, then select Copy.
    • This will copy the URL to your clipboard, meaning you can now go to Facebook and post it.
  4. It's at the top of the News Feed.
  5. On a phone or tablet, tap and hold the typing area and select Paste. On a computer, right-click the typing area and select Paste.
    • You can also use the keyboard shortcut: CTRL + V (Windows) or CMD + V (Mac) to paste.
  6. This will post the link to your Facebook timeline.[1]
    • For more visibility on your post, you can share it with a friend or group.

  1. You can share content from a web browser or app on your computer, Android, or iPhone. Navigate to the page, video, photo, or other content you want to post to Facebook.
    • You can share content from many apps, such as YouTube and Pinterest. You can also share links directly from many blogs and websites.
  2. Some sites offer a button that allows you to instantly share a link to Facebook. Others have a Share button or icon that brings up a list of apps or websites that you can use to share the link.
    • If you can't find a sharing button, you'll need to copy a link instead.
  3. This is the icon found in the previous step.
    • If you're prompted to sign into Facebook, tap the Facebook App option and enter your login information.
    • A premade post will appear with the link. You can add text, emojis, tags, or other edits if needed.
  4. It's in the top-right corner of the window. Doing so will post the link to your Facebook Timeline.
