Creating Your First Facebook Post
Install the Facebook app on your phone or tablet (or go to https://facebook.com in a web browser) and create an account. Once you're signed in, tap the "What's on your mind?" box at the top of the feed and type your post. Attach photos, videos, and other content if you'd like, then click "Post."

Install the Facebook app. If you've never used Facebook on your Android, iPhone, or iPad, you'll usually need to install the app. First, check your home screen or app list for a blue and white "F" icon—if you see it, you don't have to download anything! If not, here's how you can get it:

- Open the Play Store app in your app list.
- Type facebook into the search bar and press the Enter or Search key.
- Tap Facebook (the blue and white icon).

Add more content to your post. If you want to add more to your post, tap one of the options below the text field. You may need to swipe up to reveal all available options, and the options will differ depending on whose timeline you're posting on.
- Photo/Video: Allows you to select a photo or video from your device to upload to the post.
- Tag People: Allows you to select a friend or group of friends to tag in the post. Tagged friends will see the post on their pages.
- Check in: Allows you to add an address or a location to your post.
- Feeling/Activity: Allows you to select an emotion or activity to add to the post.
- You can also add a Life event, Live video, GIF, or a nonprofit.

Choose who can see your post. By default, anything you post on a friend or business's timeline will be visible to anyone who can view that timeline. However, when you're posting on your own timeline, you can control who can see your post.
- In the typing area, tap the drop-down menu that says Public, Friends, Custom, or similar.
- Select Friends to limit your posts to your friends only. Alternatively, you can select another option like Only me to make your post private, or Friends except to hide the post from specific friends.[3]

Tap Post. Your post will be added to your timeline. Or, if you began by going to a friend or business's page, your post will appear there.

Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in a web browser. You can use any web browser to post on Facebook, including Edge, Safari, and Chrome. default, your home page should be your feed.[4]
