I'd suggest using hydrating shampoos and conditioners. Try pairing that with some oil, such as argan oil, to help nourish the hair even more. If you use heat to style your hair, add on a blow dry cream. Refrain from heat styling when you can, though, as heat and over styling can damage your hair. There are things that you can do in a salon as well. A keratin treatment, for example, can be a good option if you have super frizzy hair that you can't seem to manage or control.

Using an egg in your hair will not straighten it. Eggs are used in hair masks to condition and strengthen the hair to prepare the hair for straightening (and other hair services) and keeping it healthy. However, an egg can not straighten your hair.

No, you don’t have to wash your hair again as long as it is clean and free of hair products. If not, it would be best to have clean hair before straightening it.

Yes, you may need to straighten in smaller sections, but otherwise it should work fine.
  • Question
Do I have to wash my hair after I straighten it?
    Community Answer

    Julietstips4life

    Community Answer
Not necessarily. If you use a heat protectant, it will be fine. But don't use too much protectant or your hair will be greasy. Also, don't use a high wattage setting on your iron if your hair is thin or delicate.

  • Question
Should heat protection spray be applied thenallowed to dry before applying the flatiron?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You should allow the product to sit for a couple of seconds, then brush your hair with a comb. That way, the product is evenly distributed throughout the hair, instead of it being in just one part of your hair. After that, you should be good to go!
  • Question
How do you use heat products but still keep your hair healthy?

  • Question
Which kind of shampoo should I use before straightening?

The shampoo brand doesn’t really matter when it comes to straightening your hair. If you want really straight hair, use a special straightening shampoo that reduces your hair volume.
  • Question
Does straightening my hair mean that it will never be curly afterwards?

No. It depends on your hair type. It will usually go back to normal after you wash your hair, or after some time (it may take 3 days, or even an entire week).
  • Question
What will happen if we do not use spray?
    Community Answer

What if my mom doesn't allow me to straighten my hair? And even if she does, how am I supposed to look good after washing it when it goes back to looking curly?
    Community Answer

If your mother doesn't allow you, you should probably not straighten your hair, because it is most likely for a good reason. When it goes back to looking curly, then you style your hair and take care of it so that it will look pretty.
  • Question
Is it harder to straighten African American hair?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Generally yes. The curlier your hair is, the harder it is to straighten. Many African Americans who want straight hair choose to have their hair chemically straightened by a professional. That way you get permanent results and don't have to deal with manually straightening your hair.
  • Question
I want to make it permanent. How can I do that?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
There isn't any way to make your hair permanently straight.

    lexicheers 03
    lexicheers 03
    Community Answer
I use a heat protection spray by Tresemme, but any brand will work. I don't use a finishing product; I just brush it through, then style it.
  • Question
If I am a mixed, mostly-black girl, can I follow this too?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Yes! You can use a chasing comb and take smaller sections for super-sleek and shiny look.
  • Question
Do I have to add a heat protectant every time? If I run out, will I be okay?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
You probably will not damage your hair if you skip the heat protectant every once in a while, but you still shouldn't straighten your hair on a very regular basis if you want to be on the safe side.
