We'll also help you fix anything that may go wrong.

  1. HP Smart's app should be in your Start menu's list of apps, but you can also find it by typing hp smart into the Windows search bar or your Mac's Launchpad. HP Smart has a blue icon with a printer and tablet.
    • Sometimes it takes several minutes to load all data for all HP devices in HP Smart.
    • You can also remove devices from the HP Smart app on your Android, iPhone, or iPad. Just download the app from the Play Store for Android or the App Store for iOS, launch the app, and sign in.[1]
  2. Use the navigational arrow icons to scroll through linked HP printers and devices, then double-click the one you want to remove. This will take you to the Printer Settings page.
    • If you're using the mobile HP Smart app, tap your printer, then skip to step 3.
    • If you are not taken to the Printer Settings page, click the blue Printer Settings tile at the bottom of the window.

  3. You'll see this under "Manage" in the left panel on a computer, and at the bottom of the menu on a phone or tablet. Don't worry—even though it says "Hide," this will still permanently remove your device from HP Smart.
  4. You'll see this button just below "Select Hide This Printer to remove it from the HP Smart App."
  5. The app will prompt you to confirm again before removing the device from the app. Once the printer is removed, it will no longer appear in the device list.

Using HPSmart.com

  1. Even if you use the HP Smart desktop app on your PC, you can use the web-based version of HP Smart to remove devices. The PC app can be glitchy and not allow you to remove printers, so this method should be helpful even if you've already tried using the app. Go to https://www.hpsmart.com and click Sign In at the top-right corner to log in now.
    • If you don't know your login information, you can click Forgot your name? to locate it and, if necessary, reset your password.
  2. You'll see the menu in the upper-left corner of the dashboard when you sign in. This lists all printing devices connected to your HP Smart account.
  3. A few options will appear.
    • If you don't see this option, click the name of the device you want to remove first.
  4. A confirmation message will appear.
  5. Once you've removed a device from HP Smart on the web, it will no longer appear in the HP Smart app on your other devices.
    • You may need to log out and back in to the HP Smart app on your computer, phone, or tablet to see the changes.

Troubleshooting

  1. Even if your printer does appear in HP Smart, you may have been logged out of the app. If you don't see your initials at the upper-left corner of the HP Smart app, you're not logged in. Click the outline of a person in a circle, then click Sign in to log into your HP account.
  2. If you can't remove your device from HP Smart, your account may require at least one HP+ compatible printing device to be connected to your account. Try adding another printer to HP Smart before removing a device.
  3. If it's been a long time since your HP Smart-compatible printer was last connected to Wi-Fi, the HP Smart app may not be able to remove it until you've connected again at least once.
  4. Sometimes the app acts a little funny about removing devices. Log in to https://www.hpsmart.com in your web browser and remove the printer that way.
