Controllers for the PlayStation 4 connect to the console via Bluetooth. You'll need a USB cable to sync a controller via a wired connection, and you'll need two controllers if you want to sync one of them wirelessly. This wikiHow shows you how to sync a controller on a PlayStation 4.

Syncing your PS4 Controller to the Console

  • Via USB: Turn on the PS4. Attach a USB cable from the console to the controller. Hold down the controller’s PS button (in the center) for three seconds to sync.
  • Wirelessly: Press the PS button on an already connected controller. Navigate to “Settings.” Press “X” to select. Navigate to “Devices” and press “X” to select. Select the “Bluetooth Devices” menu option. On the new controller, hold down “Share” and the PS button for 5 seconds. Select the new device’s name on the screen and press “X” to sync.
