Vampires have been a major part of the Sims franchise since their introduction in The Sims 2, and are a favorite occult type of players everywhere. This wikiHow will teach you how to turn your Sim into a vampire in the Sims franchise.
Steps
-
Have the Vampires game pack installed. You cannot make a vampire without the Vampires game pack.
-
Play the Sim you want to make a vampire.
- It's also possible to create a vampire directly in Create-a-Sim using the "Add Vampire" option, but this means they're already a vampire and won't need to be turned.

Find a vampire Sim. While vampires may not stand out as much from other Sims, their appearances tend to be distinct from human Sims. Vampires may have the following:
- Off-color, paler skin
- Slightly glowing eyes
- Fangs
- May have veins or cracks on their face
Tip: If you don't have custom vampires in your game, look for Vladislaus Straud, Caleb Vatore, or Lilith Vatore. These are pre-made vampires living in Forgotten Hollow.
-
Build a positive relationship with the vampire. Ideally, you'll want your Sim to be at least friends with the vampire. They won't be willing to turn your Sim if you have a low relationship with them.
-
Ask the vampire to turn your Sim. Click on the Sim, click Friendly..., and find and click Ask to Turn. If their relationship is high enough, the vampire will bite your Sim, and then your Sim will bite them back.
- If you're playing a vampire Sim who has the Vampire Creation perk, you can select Offer to Turn to have your Sim bite the other Sim.
-
Wait about a day and a half in-game. Once they've been bitten, your Sim will get the "Strangely Hungry" moodlet signifying the transformation. After about 36 Sim hours, your Sim will complete the transformation and become a vampire.
- Your Sim cannot turn other Sims into vampires unless they have the Vampire Creation perk.
-
Have Late Night or Supernatural installed. Late Night introduced vampires to The Sims 3, and players with Supernatural can also find them. (Supernatural also allows you to create vampires directly from Create a Household, if you wish.)
-
Send your Sim out at night. Vampire Sims can be anywhere, but they'll typically be found out and about during the night. However, some vampires will work day jobs, and you may even see a vampire as your Sim's coworker.
- If your Sim is in Bridgeport, vampires will often be at the bar Plasma 504.
- In towns that don't have premade vampires (for example, Sunset Valley), the game's story progression will often turn random Sims into vampires.
-
Recognize vampire Sims. Vampire Sims have very distinctive traits that set them apart from other Sims. This includes the following:
- Off-color, slightly glowing skin (pale-skinned Sims will look a bit gray, while darker-skinned Sims will look a slightly sickly beige)
- Glowing eyes
- Fangs (if they open their mouth, pause the game and zoom in on them)
- Extremely fast running speeds
- Glowing red box around the Sim in the Relationships panel
Tip: Non-vampire Sims will get the negative "Hunted" moodlet when in the vicinity of a vampire they aren't friends with.
-
Get your Sim to befriend the vampire. The vampire will not be willing to turn your Sim if their relationship is low.
-
Ask the vampire to bite your Sim. When your Sim has built up a high enough relationship with the vampire, click on the vampire and select Ask to Turn. If the relationship is high enough, the vampire will either bite your Sim on the wrist (if the relationship is platonic) or on the neck (if the two are romantically involved).
- If you're playing the vampire Sim, you can select Offer to Turn instead.
- Once the vampire has bitten your Sim, they'll gain a neutral moodlet about the bite that lasts for three days. (They'll also periodically get notifications about how the bite is "affecting" them, such as saying that it itches slightly.)
- Your Sim will not be able to travel to other worlds (e.g. vacation worlds or college) when they have the bite moodlet.
-
Wait for the moodlet to expire. After about three days, the moodlet will expire and your Sim will complete the transformation in a cloud of bats and red smoke!
-
Have the Nightlife expansion pack. Vampires were introduced in Nightlife and don't exist in other expansion packs.
-
Create a Downtown. The Downtown generates the Grand Vampires, which will be necessary to turn your Sim without cheating.
-
Send your Sim downtown after 7 PM. The Grand Vampire will only appear downtown after it gets dark, because they're so susceptible to sunlight.
- You may not find a vampire on the first try, so don't be disappointed if it takes a few nights out to find a vampire.
-
Find a Grand Vampire. The Grand Vampires will stand out quite a bit, so you'll be able to recognize them on sight. Features of the Grand Vampires are:
- Gray skin
- Older, more Victorian-era clothing
- Red eyes
- Fangs (only visible when the Vampire's mouth is open)
- Name is prefaced with "Count" or "Contessa"
- May hold their arm in front of their mouth or "bleh" at Sims
-
Build a relationship with the Grand Vampire. To get the Grand Vampire to bite your Sim, the two must have a high relationship.
- Knowledge Sims don't need their relationship with the vampire to be quite as high.
- If a Sim has a higher Logic skill, the two Sims must have a higher Daily Relationship than if the Sim has a low Logic skill.
-
Wait for the Grand Vampire to bite your Sim. Once your Sim and the Grand Vampire are on good terms, the Grand Vampire may autonomously bite your Sim, turning them into a vampire almost immediately.
- You can also have a Sim influence the Grand Vampire to bite a Sim, though it may not always succeed.
- Once the Grand Vampire has bitten your Sim, they will autonomously begin biting other Sims on the lot, even if you're not playing those Sims.
-
Have a regular vampire perform the Bite Neck interaction. A regular vampire can also turn Sims into vampires, but like with the Grand Vampire, the two must have a good relationship. However, with a playable Sim, you can just select Bite Neck and let the transformation happen!

QuestionWhat if I don't have an expansion pack?Community AnswerYou will need an expansion pack in order to turn your Sim into a vampire. The Supernatural expansion pack is the best for this, as you can turn your Sim into a vampire on the Create-a-Sim mode. The Late Night expansion pack will also work, but you cannot make your Sim into a vampire on Create-a-Sim; you will have to find one first.

Tips

Vampirism is cured with potions in all three games. In The Sims 4, you need the Ultimate Vampire Cure; in The Sims 3, you need to get the cure from the Science Building; and in The Sims 2, you need Vamprocillin-D from the Matchmaker (or brewed by a witch). Thanks
-
In The Sims 3, if a vampire Sim has a child, there's a chance of the vampirism being passed onto the baby (though they won't be able to perform vampire actions until they get older). Thanks
-
You can enable testingcheats to raise your Sim's relationship with the vampire quickly. Thanks
Warnings
- Vampires in all games are extremely susceptible to sunlight and their motives will decline extremely quickly if outdoors during the day. Keep them indoors (and preferably sleeping or in their coffins) during the day if you don't want to kill them. Thanks
- Vampires do not exist in the mobile versions of the games. Thanks
