  1. Stardew Valley is available on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. On the home screen, tap Load to load an existing save file.
    • If desired, you can play Stardew with a new save file by tapping New.
  2. Press either ESC or E to open your inventory.[1] By default, you'll be on the left-most tab. If you aren't, click the backpack icon.

  3. You can use any kind of bait: standard Bait, a Magnet, Wild Bait, or Magic Bait. This will select the entire bait stack.[2]
    • If you want to select only a single bait, right-click the bait.

Types of Bait

  1. This is the standard fishing bait. When used, fish will bite faster.
    • Standard Bait can be obtained from Willy's Fish Shop, a Worm Bin, or crafted at Fishing Level 2.
  2. The Magnet is best used if you want to find more treasure when you fish. This bait will increase your chances of finding treasure by 15%, but it won't affect the bite rate of regular fish.[9]
    • The Magnet can be purchased from Willy's Fish Shop on the pier for 1,000g, or you can craft it with Iron Bars at Fishing Level 9.
  3. With this type of bait, players are able to capture two fish at once, excluding Legendary Fish.[10]
    • The Wild Bait recipe is gifted by Linus following the 4-heart event. You'll need Mug Meat, Slime, and Fiber to craft a bundle of five Wild Bait.
  4. This type of bait allows players to catch fish regardless of season, time of day, or weather. You'll be able to capture any type of fish without having to wait for the perfect time.[11]
    • To gain access to Magic Bait, players will need to gain access to Qi's Walnut Room. You can buy Magic Bait or the recipe to create it in exchange for Qi gems.
