We all know the feeling: you made plans with a friend, but now that it’s almost time to leave the house, you just don’t have the energy. Or, maybe something else came up, and you actually can’t make it. Whatever the case is, canceling plans, even over text, can be a little nerve-wracking—but with a few well-placed compliments and a little honesty, you can gracefully bow out without feeling guilty.
Politely Cancel Plans through Text: a Quick Guide
Always text someone as soon as you know you have to cancel plans. Be honest about your reasons and make alternate plans or reschedule if possible. Thank them for the invitation and apologize for canceling while expressing your disappointment you won’t be meeting up.
