Wardrobe Stylist & Personal ShopperBring along shoes that match the type of clothes that you'll be trying on. For instance, you wouldn't want to wear a pair of sneakers while you're trying on a suit—instead, you'd wear or bring along a pair of flats, pumps, or loafers. -
QuestionShould I leave long hair down, or tie it up?Sydneyjane16Community AnswerIt should be up so it doesn't get caught in zippers, buttons, jewelry, or impede your field of vision.

QuestionHow do I pick comfortable shoes when shopping?Community AnswerFeel inside the shoe for padding to start. Then, put them on and walk around for a bit. While you have the shoes on, slide your finger into the back of the shoe to see whether or not the shoe will rub against your ankle. Lastly, press down on the toe of the shoe to make sure that they aren't too small. If there isn't any space between your big toe and the toe of the shoe, get a bigger size.
Tips
-
Wear undergarments appropriate to what you're shopping for, such as a strapless bra for a strapless dress.[3]Thanks
-
Look for stores that have bright and natural lights, since colors can look very different in dimly lit dressing rooms. If you’re not careful, you may end up buying a piece that doesn’t look good on you. [4]Thanks
-
Skinny jeans are hard to get off around the bottom of your legs, so leave those at homeThanks
Tips from our Readers
- If possible, try to bring a minimal amount of items. Stick to a small wristlet or side purse, with a wallet or phone. Less is more!
- If the shopping mall you are going to is far, you should wear flat shoes. Wearing heels will hurt your feet.
- Take a rucksack-type bag. This will be easier on your shoulders, but be on the lookout for purse snatchers.
- Don't bring big accessories, such as a large handbag or large, fancy earrings.
