Anytime I shave, I get strawberry legs. I don't want to just never shave, but I don't know what to do because I can't take this anymore. Anyone know how to get rid of the little dots on my skin?

Strawberry legs are actually just clogged pores or hair follicles from shaving. To get rid of them, use a clean, sharp razor and moisturizing shaving cream when you shave your legs. Also, exfoliate and moisturize often.

I think my razor is clean and sharp enough and I ALWAYS use shaving cream. I exfoliate sometimes but I wasn't sure if it would make things worse if I did it too much?

As a dermatologist, I recommend exfoliating two to three times a week if you're prone to dull, dry skin and/or live in a dry climate. If you have more sensitive skin, exfoliating about once a week is beneficial. There are two types of exfoliant, and both can really help brighten skin and remove dead skin cells. The first is physical, including scrubs that use sugar, sea salt, or oatmeal. The second is chemical, which is glycolic acid as in honey, lactic acid as in milk, or citric acid as in fruit. No matter the type of exfoliant or frequency of your exfoliation, the most important thing is to thoroughly moisturize after you exfoliate because you're getting through the dead skin layer and now you want to lock in that hydration to the deeper skin cell.

To clear clogged pores, really concentrate on cleansing your skin. Try an enzyme-based cleanser, which is phenomenal for the pores. Enzymes really shrink and tighten the pores. A pore is like a little bag or a little socket, and it can accumulate dirt, oils, sweat, all that stuff. And the more it accumulates, the more room it makes for the stuff to sit inside it. And that's why they get enlarged over time and turn dark. If you really get to the pores, if you remove all the gunk, if your pores don't have the build up of all the dirt inside them, they don't enlarge as much.

I've tried everything and I still get the little black dots after shaving. :( What should I do?

Keep exfoliating, keep shaving~ sometimes it will take months to show results. Personally I exfoliate and shave three times a week, (exfoliating using a salicylic acid scrub, and exfoliating gloves) and it took AGES to show results, but after about 3 months, I finally have much clearer legs than I used to! I promise you'll get there, just keep going~💖

try waxing or epilating instead of shaving or you could get electrolysis or laser hair removal but that's more expensive. personally i think waxing is so much better than shaving and it makes my skin super smooth and lasts a lot longer

Try getting them removed with laser hair removal. This worked wonders for me.

Patience pays off when trying new methods. Give your body time to adjust to things like waxing or chemical depilatories. Start with small test patches and wait a full day to check for problems before using the method all over.

Listen to your skin. If you start to feel a burning sensation, rinse your legs with water immediately. Redness, bumps, or itchiness can indicate irritation. Discontinue the use of any products that cause negative reactions.

Take care of your tools. Rinse razors frequently, replace dull blades, and fully dry them between uses. Dirty, overused blades can lead to cuts, nicks, and razor burn. Proper care makes shaving easier and safer.

Don't share razors or wax strips. Sharing increases your risk of infection. Razors harbor bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Invest in your own supplies, even if it means hiding them. Your health is worth it.

Exfoliate your legs the day before, not right before. Doing it too soon before shaving can lead to irritation. Gently scrubbing the day prior helps lift hairs and helps give you a closer shave.

Using a single blade (double edge safety razor) greatly reduces the amount of irritation and bumps as well. Just be careful while you shave.
