Take on difficult 7-Star Raids after following this guide
PDF download Download Article

If you've beaten Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you may be wondering how you can unlock 7-Star Raids. These high-end Tera Raid Battles are some of the most difficult fights in the game, but if you're up for the challenge you can get some incredibly powerful Pokémon that are not normally native to Paldea. In this article we'll teach you how you can unlock these raids and how to best prepare for them.

Things You Should Know

  • 7-Star Raids are only available for short, limited periods of time.
  • To unlock 7-Star Raids, you should first finish the game and complete the Academy Ace Tournament.
  • After finishing the game, start hosting 5- and 6-Star Raids until Jacq calls you to give you access to 7-Star Raids.

Unlocking 7-Star Raids

  1. The first step to unlocking 7-Star Tera Raid Battles is to finish Pokémon Scarlet or Violet. These raids are high-end endgame content, so you'll need to be sufficiently prepared before you take one on.
  2. After finishing the game, you'll have to defeat all the gym leaders again before competing in the Academy Ace Tournament. You'll be prompted to start this quest when you're being congratulated in Clavell's office after finishing the main story.[1]

  3. During the post-game, Instructor Jacq will call to let you know that 5-Star Tera Raid Battles are available, but will caution you to not do 6-Star Raids yet. You can attempt 6-Star Raids despite his warning (denoted by their black raid crystal) or you can keep doing 5-Star Raids until Jacq tells you to attempt 6-Star Raids.
    • After completing a handful of 5- and 6-Star Raids, Jacq will let you know that 7-Star Tera Raids are available.
  4. 7-Star Tera Raid Battles are only available during events that last for a few days.[2] When a 7-Star Tera Raid is available, the in-game Poké Portal News will be updated with the information.[3]

Raid Preparation

  1. While there's more than one way to win these battles, the tips below can help you prepare to complete these extra-hard endgame fights:
    • Select the right Pokémon for the battle. The absolute best physical attacker is Ogerpon, but you can also use Ursaluna, Annihilape, Iron Hands, Koraidon, Azumarill, or Chesnaught. The absolute best special attacker is Arceus, but you can also use Calyrex (Shadow Rider), Miraidon, Magearna, Manaphy, Munkidori, or Hoopa Unbound. The absolute best support Pokémon is Mew, but you can also use Grimmsnarl, Clefairy, or Toxapex.
    • Level your Pokémon to level 100, as 7-Star Tera Raid Pokémon are also level 100.
    • Use an Adamant or Modest Mint to change their nature to Adamant or Modest. Nature Mints can be bought at Chansey Supply.
    • Select an individual Pokémon with good IVs, then Hyper Train them. The NPC that will Hyper Train your Pokémon is located in Montenevera.
    • EV train your Pokémon to 252 HP and 252 Attack/Special Attack. The fastest way to EV train is with Vitamins, but it is expensive. However, earning money in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is much quicker than previous games.

No, the Academy Ace Tournament only needs to be beaten once to unlock Seven Star Tera Raids.

How do I choose between Miraidon or Koraidon?

    Community Answer
Great question! This depends on the raid's Tera-type and the opposing Pokémon's stats. For example: Blissey is weak against the physical-attacking Koraidon, whereas the Dondozo raid was weak against the special-attacking Miraidon.
