Hi all, so, like the title says, I'd like to know some advice for losing face fat. I'm of average build, even somewhat skinny, but my cheeks and chin have always been chubby and it's always made me really self-conscious. How do you slim down just your face? I just want to like who I see in the mirror.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to target specific areas to lose weight, but burning fat overall will help make your face look slimmer. A combination of clean eating, cardio, and resistance exercises will help you burn fat overall.

A balanced and nutritious diet is a must though. Make sure you're incorporating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and at least 25 grams of fiber every day. Try to stick to lean proteins and healthy fats, such as avocados, nuts, and olive oil. Then, limit how much sugar and simple carbs you include in your diet.

Some of that "fat" may just be some swelling or inflammation. That be really easy to get rid of just by cutting back on alcohol and drinking a lot of water so you stay hydrated.

Even cutting out salty snacks is a good idea since the sodium in your body retains water, and that can make your face look a little puffier.

I'm not sure how old you are, but if you're younger I wouldn't worry too much. You might just have some "baby fat" in your face and you're still growing into it. Talking from personal experience, my face didn't slim out until I was in my mid-20s and now I have super defined features.

first of all, i'm sorry you're feeling down about yourself. <3 remember beauty standrds are made up and they're meant to make us feel bad about ourselves! loving how you look is radical! second, does the rest of your family have a fuller face? you could just be genetically predisposed. i have a chubby face no matter how well i eat or how much i work out, it's the same with everyone in my family. it used to really bother me when i was younger, but now that i'm in my 30s i've grown to appreciate my "baby face" :)

Let me preface this by saying I'm by no means an expert and I don't even know if they're proven to work, but I have heard about "face yoga" and some specific exercises that are supposed to get rid of fat.

One of the easiest ones is sucking in a big breath of air and puffing out your cheeks for 10 seconds. After that, only puff out your left cheek for 10 seconds followed by your right cheek for another 10 seconds.

Another one I know is puckering your lips and sucking your cheeks in. Hold that position for a little while and then move your lips from side to side to work your facial muscles even more.

I also saw a trend called "mewing" on TikTok, don't know if it really works but basically you press your tongue to the roof of your mouth to make your jaw look more defined. Might be worth a try!

I am in the same position you are — underweight, but with a genetic predisposition towards a “fat” neck. Some of it is left over from losing 40 lbs, but the cast majority is having parents and grandparents with double chins. I’ve been to a cosmetic surgeon and there isn’t a lot of actual underlying fat, so the recommended option is surgery to tighten the skin. Not what anyone wants to hear, but I’ve tried every cream and exercise in the book. It’s hard not be self-conscious, but you’re not alone.

Just don't feel pressured. Do it for you. Take the time you need and don't starve yourself or over-exercise, just eat healthy, walk, or run and drink water, but don't starve yourself. Anyway, starving yourself will just give you the urge to drink water and put more water weight on. So just take your time and feel comfortable.

There are no actual exercises that get rid of face fat and only face fat. As you eat healthier or eat less the body will burn off the excess fat for energy and it normally is taken from the face and neck region first and then the rest of your body. So facial exercises do nothing, it's down to your diet.

If you are young or a teenager, your cheeks will slim out as you grow up and go through puberty. You can still do facial exercises and drink water to lose weight, but just give it some time.
