I can't go a day without getting at least a couple spam phonecalls. It's driving me up the wall. does anyone know how to stop this?? I'm seriously ready to throw my phone into the sea. I have an iPhone, if that matters.

There are a few different things you can do to combat spammers:
1. On your iPhone, go to "settings" -> "phone" -> "silence unknown callers" to keep spammers at bay.
2. Report spam calls/texts when you do get them.
3. If you're getting harrassed by a specific spammer, block their number.
4. Probably goes without saying, but I'm gonna say it anyway: don't answer a call labeled "Scam Likely." For that matter, just try to avoid answering calls without caller ID listed! This can be a pain, especially if you're expecting a call from someone like a doctor or job interview, but generally, if you want to avoid scammers, it'll keep you safe.
5. As a last resort, you can silence notifications, but this is like, if you're getting so many spam calls and texts you can't even pause to think.

i realize you're probably getting calls from a bunch of different numbers but on the off chance you're getting calls from the same number, you can always block them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, to block a caller on an iPhone, tap Phone > Recents and choose the number you want to block. Then scroll down and select "Block This Caller" from the menu.

I admittedly haven't tried this yet myself because I don't think I've gotten that desperate yet, thank god, so I'm not 100% sure how it works, but I know you can opt out of telemarketing calls by signing up for the FCC's National Do Not Call Registry: https://www.donotcall.gov/ This may help at least some of the issue.

Yes, you can use the Do Not Call Registry, however I don't think that will take care of international scammers, since the FCC can only regulate national numbers, unless I'm mistaken.

I think the U.S. government only has jurisdiction over national telemarketers. Unfortunately, this means telemarketers in other countries can call all they want. You can still try to block them though.

If you do answer the phone to a scammer, don't speak or they will know the number is active and they may also record your voice and use it to scam you.

If you want to troll a telemarketer and you have the time, keep them on the line as long as possible. They likely have a quota to fill so the longer you keep them the more of their time you'll waste. Plus, if you hang up they may just keep calling.

You can just interrupt a telemarketer and say, "Add me to your do not call list. Thanks." Then hang up.

No matter what just don't answer unknown numbers unless you are expecting a call from a doctor or somebody who's number you don't have so their name won't pop up. I just hang up. If I get voicemails from telemarketers I know to just block the number they came from.

If you really can't get someone to stop calling you, tell them you're calling the police. If they still don't stop, then really call the police.
