Narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder are from the same cluster of personality disorders: cluster B. Borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder are also in this cluster. Generally clusters have some overlapping symptoms of the disorders, so it is possible for a person with NPD to also have traits of ASPD.
  • Question
Is there any medicine that can fix this? How can a narcissist get help?
    Community Answer
    Community Answer
Narcissism isn't a "mental disorder" and is not subject to medicinal treatment. It is merely someone's view of themselves and others. A psychologist might be able to offer help.

    Bel

    Community Answer
They can be dangerous. They could create a smear campaign and tarnish your image with lies and/or things you said out of context. Also, they are really good at drawing people in and utilising them as sheep for their personal benefit (e.g., by spreading a fabricated story about you or an incident when they hurt you).
  • Question
Can a narcissist be medically treated?
    Lauren Kaduce

    Community Answer
Therapy can help, but only if they recognize and admit that there’s a problem. Many narcissists, especially adults, don’t get professional help because they don’t believe there is even a problem. Parents/guardians may make kids get treatment, but adults must make that decision for themselves.
  • Question
How do I get the narcissist to leave my home?
    Lauren Kaduce
    Lauren Kaduce
    Community Answer
If they are a house guest, tell them that you enjoyed having them over, but it’s time for them to go now. If they continue to stay, remind them again (more directly this time around) and if they won’t leave, call the police, as this is trespassing. If they live with you, tell them to consider moving elsewhere. If they are abusive towards you, do not tolerate this. Call the emergency services or an abuse hotline.
  • Question
I am a dependent 53-year-old female with an abusive and narcissistic spouse. I have tried to leave him but could not as I'm not independent financially and don't have other shelter. What can I do?
    Lauren Kaduce
    Lauren Kaduce
    Community Answer
Call an abuse hotline. They will help you find a place to stay. It’s better to be temporarily homeless than to be in a home with such an abusive or violent individual. Do not tolerate this.
